Does U of Chicago send everyone lots of unsolicited mail or just me?

My stats aren't stellar (3.85UW, 790CR/680M) but for some reason I've been receiving absurd amounts of mail from UChicago. I'm talking two or three times a week. I've gotten more than 50 pieces of mail from them (I piled them all up), including postcards with my name in Gothic lettering, posters, artbooks, full-color fold out campus photos, etc. And talking to my friends, they seem to feel pretty courted if a college sends three or four pieces of mail their way. I'm by no means a hooked student in any conventional sense, is this normal? Or did I manage to get my name copied down ten times on the mailing list? Thanks!

On the UChicago account upload section, they recently added like 50000000 new financial aid documents for you to submit. Should I start uploading them now or wait for a decision?

Crystal Balling UChicago's Admit and Yield for class of 2021

I have posted this in another thread, but wanted to consolidate here, in case anyone wanted to comment. All of this is pure speculation, so please treat it that way :-) Assumptions Here were the # of ED applications for the Ivy league for the class of 2020 Brown: 3,030(9.3% of total pool) Columbia: 3,520 (13% of total pool) Cornell: 4,882 (10.85% of total pool) Dartmouth: 1,927 (9.32% of total pool) Harvard: 6,173 (15.8% of total pool) Penn: 5,762 (14.8% of total pool) Princeton: 4,229 (14.4% of total pool) Yale: 4,662 (14.8% of total pool) Overall Ivy: 34,185 ED/SCEA apps (12.5% of total pool) If you remove the SCEA schools, the total ED apps for Ivies was 19,121 (11% of their total pool). Average early admit rate for Entire Ivy pool was 20%. If you remove the SCEA schools, the average admit rate for ED was around 23% UChicago got 31,411 apps for the class of 2020. So if it mirrors Brown or Dartmouth it will get around 2,900 ED1 apps. If it mirrors Cornell, it could get around 3,100 apps. If it mirrors Columbia or Penn it could get 3,800 ED apps. Based on that my ED1 predictions are as follows ED1 Apps: 3,500 ED 1 Admit rate: 23% ED 1 Yield: 95% ED 2 Apps: 2,500. This is the hard one to estimate. of around 34,100 students applying ED/SCEA to the Ivies, 80% were either denied or deferred. That is around 27,000 applicants in limbo who were ready to take a leap on ED for the Ivies. I am assuming that less than 10% will now apply ED2 to UChicago because they get nervous. ED 2 Admit rate: 15% ( I am assuming a smaller admit rate, because I think this pool will be very strong) ED 2 Yield: 95% For EA if you assume like the most current year, approximately 12,000 apps were in the EA pool and remove the ED1 number from them, you get EA Apps: 8,500 EA Rate: 6% (based on the fact that the two ED pools, will mean higher yield) EA Yield: 70% (Assuming, that the RD yield is rather poor at around 45%, Chicago's EA yield to fill the 1600+ seat for the class of 2020 must have been pretty high, to give an overall yield as officially stated of 66%. I am taking a conservative number of 70%) That means UChicago will already have firm enrollment of close to 1,200 from these ED1 and ED 2 pools alone. Given a total class strength of around 1,600 or so, there is not much more room left for either the EA pool or RD pool. If they get around 350 from the admitted EA pool, that would bring the total enrollment to 1,550. That leaves next to no room for the RD pool. I expect the admit rate to be dismal for this pool. I mean it could be in the 1%-3% range That gives an incredibly high yield for Chicago. Over 80% easily. If things go crazy in the ED2 pool, it could be as high as 90% overall!! I think with the ED1/ED2 strategy, UChicago is trying to mimic the yield and admit rates of Stanford and Harvard. Remains to be seen if they will succeed.

Can someone read my extended essay?

It's kind of weird... and also too long. I read somewhere online that the extended essay should be about 1000 words, but now I'm just learning that it should in fact be about 500. My essay is currently about 750 words. Can anyone tell me if my essay idea at all works, and perhaps ideas on where to cut? Thanks!

Why UChicago? Word Limit/Read?

I know UChicago has said somewhere that "no more than 500 words" are required for the "Why UChicago?" essay. That being said, do you think around 250 will be okay? I love UChicago but don't want to sound like I'm reiterating reasons off of brochures/pamphlets. Would anyone who has had experience with this mind reading my essay? :)

What is the most important aspect of the application?

I wanted to quickly ask what is probably the most important part of the application for UChicago. Besides grades, what does UChicago really like seeing, is it a resume, good major picks, or the essays? Or are your grades truly the most important thing? Responses greatly appreciated!

Never got an interview

I requested an interview with UChicago mid-November and received a confirmation email. After that i never received anything. Nothing saying I could have one or if there was no one available in my area. I became concerned and emailed on of the admission counselors I had met over the summer basically asking if there was no one available, if my request was somehow lost or didn’t go through or if there was another reason. Once again no response. Should I expect a rejection letter now? Did they just not want to waste time on me because they had made a decision? Any response will be appreciated. Thank you.

Messed up my application???

I wrote my 3 essays for UChicago, however, when I uploaded them on Common App, one essay was duplicated for two prompts. This was the "Why UChicago?" essay that I put for the right prompt and the first essay prompt where you choose a topic provided by the school. I reuploaded the essays on my applicant account and made sure they were all correct. Is this enough? Will they see the mistake but saw I fixed it through their portal or do I need to contact the school? How bad does this look and will this hurt my chances? Any response will be appreciated. Thank you.

I did La Malinche (prolific Mexican figure that is very controversial) as the Latina Constitute Director under Trump in his 2016 Campaign. It was so hard to write because I could not fathom how any POC would support Trump (it took a LOT of research),, I wrote it with an ambiguous tone, not approving or disapproving of her, and ended it with her casting her vote. I made it so the reader doesn't really know if she is voting for Trump. I am so ridiculously proud of this essay. -Why UChi? am iffy on this one, I wrote it in a rush, but I explained my drive to help my people and to create reform for Latino people.
